t219 - Hebrews

Hebrews Overview

Hebrews Ch 1

Of the ANGELS, (Jesus) says: (Jesus) makes (Jesus') ANGELS winds and (Jesus') ministers a flame of fire. - Hebrews 1.7

Hebrews Ch 6

Hebrews 6.19 - An ANCHOR for the soul is symbolism for Jesus Christ.  The world is like a sea, with the church in it.  Every believer is like a sailing ship destined for that final port, heaven.

Hebrews Ch 7

Hebrews Ch 7.27 - Jesus' sacrifice, he died, ONCE FOR ALL. (Christians)

Hebrews Ch 8

The Old Testament vs the New Testament:

The Old Testament was a copy, a foreshadowing of things to come.

    Moses, Mosaic Law

    Tabernacle on Earth

    High Priests

The New Testament is about how Jesus changed the Mosaic Law and illuminated it.

Jesus died for our sins. We are forgiven (we = COGs, Children of God)

   Tabernacle in Heaven

Summary

Jesus died on the cross for forgiveness of sins for Christians.  Accept Jesus as your savior.  Jesus' atonement was once for all. He tore the veil.

This relates to Moses and the Jews in the wilderness for 40 years. They built a tent, the tabernacle, which foreshadowed the temple in Jerusalem, and the Kingdom of God in heaven.  Only the High Priest could go through the veil into the Holy of Holies once a year and give a sin offering. The Jews celebrate Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, to this day.  One remembers their sins and confesses them.

The Holy of Holies contained the Ark of the Covenant, which held the 10 Commandments.

Jesus is a High Priest. He tore the veil, for us to enter the Holy of Holies.  Our sins are forgotten and Jesus forgives us.
